World Class Golf at Wairakei

Just one hour and ten minutes by helicopter flight from Auckland awaits a wonderland for the golfer and nature lover alike.
After flying up the powerful Waikato River – a rare and exciting experience in itself – you come to the vast source of the river at Great Lake Taupo. Touching down on the course grounds you will be ready to play the magnificent 18 holes on offer. The course has some of the elements of famous courses such as Augusta, home of the Masters. Not surprisingly, the course is ranked in the top 100 worldwide by Golf Digest magazine.
The Course also has some elements that you will not find on any other course in the world. A stone’s throw from the mighty Waikato River, you can almost feel the thunder of the powerful Huka Falls. And around the edge of the course, plumes of superheated steam can be seen rising through mature forest. So even though we can’t promise the course will improve your handicap, we can guarantee that this will be one of the most amazing and beautiful golf experiences ever.
The ambitious Wairakei golf course and sanctuary is the brainchild of owner Gary Lane. A specially designed five kilometre fence around the whole course perimeter, keeps out predators such as rats, mice, stoats, weasels, hedgehogs, feral cats and possums. This allows other wildlife to thrive and multiply, making it a wonderful enviironment to walk through.

Departure location

This Helicopter Me Experience departs from North Shore Airfield, 300 Postman Road, Dairy Flat, Auckland. Other departure locations such as the City and Auckland Airport are available but may incur and additional charge. Please contact us for pricing.

Numbers

The price quoted is for one person.  A minimum of two passengers is required for the flight to run. Single passengers are on a standby basis and subject to availability on an existing flight.

Passenger weight

Unlike large airliner aircraft individual passenger weight is critical for a helicopter. The average passenger weight for a flight must be 90kg or less. Passengers over 100kg may be required to pay for an additional comfort seat. Please let us know the passenger weights when making a booking. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you are unsure about weight restrictions.

Weather

In the event that the weather is unsuitable on the day then your Experience will be cancelled and rescheduled at no cost to you. When booking please provide us with suitable contact information so we can get hold of you on the day in the event of a cancellation. We suggest you call on the morning of your experience if you have any doubt about the weather suitability.

Cancellation and refunds

The Passenger acknowledges that Helicopter Me may need to cancel or reschedule flights or services due to landing restrictions, unsuitable weather conditions, technical problems, operational reasons, or any event beyond the Carrier’s reasonable control. Helicopter Me will not be liable for any consequential losses or additional costs incurred as a result of cancellation. Some Supplier’s products and services are non-refundable. Cancellation fee of 50% applies if cancelled prior to 7 days of flight departure. Cancellation fee of 100% applies if cancelled within 7 days of flight departure. Tickets are refundable in the event that Helicopter Me cancels the service.

Price

Fares are in NZ$ and include 15% GST. Rates are subject to change including, but not limited to, increases in or establishment of surcharges (such as fuel surcharges), taxes, government imposed fees. A fuel surcharge may apply at time of flight. Any request to increase flight time will incur additional charges. Fares are valid for the date/s specified.
