High expectations can often be dangerous when visiting a new golf course, however you won’t be disappointed at Tara Iti. Set among the white sand dunes at Mangawhai this is truly a breathtaking environment to play golf.
After removing acres of trees from the locale on the eastern coast of the country's North Island, Doak and associate Brian Slawnik spent more than two years gently contouring the sandy soil, forming hummocks, punchbowls and sand dunes that look like they were formed by wind and vegetated by nature. There's a lot of sand, but no bunkers.
If you are fortunate enough to get invited to play at this ‘invite only’ course then you will definitely want to arrive by helicopter.
Tara Iti is a private golf course and is only available by invitation only
